LaDonna Judkins was shot Tuesday morning at an Old Fourth Ward apartment and later died in the hospital.

A woman has died in the hospital after she was shot by a man who then fatally shot himself Tuesday morning at an apartment near Ponce City Market in the Old Fourth Ward, police said.

The day of the shooting, Atlanta police were called to the Glen Iris Lofts in the 600 block of Glen Iris Drive shortly before 2 a.m. A woman was found suffering from a gunshot wound and a man was found dead from gunfire, police said Tuesday.

The woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the woman as LaDonna Judkins, 22, and the man as Andrew Davis, 21.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the man shot Judkins and then shot himself, authorities confirmed. Police did not say if the two knew each other.

A GoFundMe campaign was created to help Judkins’ family with funeral expenses.
