An Atlanta woman died Thursday from injuries sustained when she was run over by a car, Cobb County police said.

Elizabeth Walton, 59, was hit by a car and then run over Wednesday as she walked on Paces Mill Road, according to Sgt. Dana Pierce.

Investigators believe James Taylor, 58, was leaving his home in the 3000 block of Paces Mill Road when he struck Walton as she crossed the home’s driveway, Pierce said. After hitting Walton in his black 2013 Mercedes GL550, Taylor allegedly ran over her, police said.

Walton was transported by ambulance in serious condition to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where she died Thursday afternoon, Pierce said. Taylor was not injured.

The wreck remains under investigation and have investigators have not yet determined if charges will be filed.
