Severe weather sweeping through South Georgia early Sunday, crushing cars, tossing mobile homes and leaving one small community unrecognizable.

Eight people were killed in Cook County, about two hours away from Jacksonville. Seven deaths were at the Sunshine Acres Mobile Home Park.

Amanda Williams, who lives at Sunshine Acres, told Action News Jax: “It’s horrible, I don’t even have words to explain it.”

Williams was inside her home at Sunshine Acres when the deadly tornado hit.

"Then, before I knew it, you could hear it and feel it at the same time and that was it," Williams said.

The debris and damage isn't isolated. Miles down the road, an entire farm was leveled.

Crews spent the day clearing debris and working to restore power to thousands in the county.

Meanwhile, families surveyed the damage and waited to return to their homes. Williams says she’s not sure what she’ll find when they’re allowed back in the area, but she’s thankful they made it out alive.
