A northern Indiana police department is warning residents to stay home because some wild buffalo decided to roam.

The Hamilton Police Department posted a warning on its Facebook page Sunday night. There are "numerous" buffalo roaming in the area, WXIN reported.

Police officials said the animals are not friendly, and residents should not approach them, the television station reported.

The buffalo were still running free Monday, WXIN reported. It was unclear where they came from, the television station reported.
