Stone Mountain Park will be the site of a white power rally Saturday, as well as two separate counter-protests against it.
White supremacists will gather for the Rock Stone Mountain event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Yellow Daisy parking lot near the park police station.
A separate group composed of Confederate flag supporters, an integrated biker group and some militia members will meet for the same time period on the big lawn under the mountain carving of Confederate war leaders. These counter-protesters say they are opposing the message of hate at the supremacist rally.
Another group protesting the white power rally is composed of left-leaning groups, students, anti-fascist organizations and labor groups, all under the umbrella name of All Out ATL. They will be at Confederate Hall, near the base of the walking trail up the mountain. This gather could run as late as 7 p.m., according to its permit.
Park police spokesman John Bankhead said park police will be out in force, accompanied by representatives of the GBI, Georgia State Patrol, Department of Natural Resources, Corrections Department and DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Bankhead said those rallying and the counter-protesters would be spread throughout the park so "they can't even see each other."
Also on Saturday, the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement will hold its annual national gathering in Rome, where they will march in their black uniforms — joined by Klansmen and Skinheads in their own garb — down a main street. A silent counter protest is also planned.
