Colgate-Palmolive is developing the new brush.
Their patent application describing the innovation says “the present invention pertains to an oral care implement generally, and more particularly to a toothbrush that releases a chemical into the mouth during use.”
That chemical or drug, of course, is caffeine.
Thinking forward the brush doesn’t have to stop with a little pick me up. The device would easily deliver pain killer, herbs, flavors or anything else that could be worked into a fluid or paste.
The mechanism is a patch that would last about three months and could be replaced or traded out whenever the user would like.
