According to The Smoking Gun, Gilbert Phelps was pulled over for speeding and having an obstructed registration sticker when Officer Ben Hektoen noticed "an odor of ingested alcohol coming from the cabin of the vehicle."

After taking a preliminary breath test, and Phelps admitting to smoking marijuana prior to driving, Hektoen took him to the station for booking. Hektoen added that Phelps showed “measurable impairment” during the field sobriety tests.

While at the station, Phelps took a SnapChat selfie with Hektoen, who was nice enough to give a thumbs-up during the photo. According to The Smoking Gun, Phelps captioned the photo using emoji icons for a police car, a passenger car, and a tow truck.

Phelps was charged with drunken driving, according to the Iowa Press-Citizen. Too bad he didn't share the same enthusiasm in his mugshot.
