You may find this video of a woman holding her pet Ghost mantis entrancing because the insect looks like some sort of alien or Halloween creature.

In the comments under her original video post, Ang Fay said her sons were at an age where they are extremely interested in insects and they got the insect through an online store.

If it seems bizarre to have an insect as a pet, at least it’s not a lonely pursuit. There are many online sites devoted to keeping the exotic pets.

And if you are wondering if they bite, the answer appears to be yes — but it's more like a pinch than a bite and not very hard. Experts say they won't bite unless they are stressed.

As for what to feed a Ghost mantis, this particular mantis is more delicate than some other types. It prefers flies but can also eat "crickets, small grasshoppers and other insects.  The size of its prey should be approximately the size of the head of the mantis."
