A man hanging outside of an Ohio church waited for Sunday services to start so he could steal from cars.
The man chose the wrong car to break into.
He was caught red-handed last Sunday after churchgoers saw him break into Greenville Mayor Michael Bowers’ truck parked outside the church, Blue Bag Media reported.
The thief took a tablet from the mayor’s truck and ran off. When church members called out that police were on the way, the thief put down the tablet and continued to run. Police caught up with him. When he was arrested, he told the officer, “I gave it back,” according to reports.
The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Jacob Henderson, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of theft and vehicle trespass Monday and was later released from the Darke County Jail on his own recognizance. His next court date is Tuesday, March 3, online court records show.
