First it was mittens for koalas, now it is pouches for kangaroos.
People reports that kangaroos and wallabies injured and orphaned due to brushfires are in need of pouch liners to mimic a mother's warm pouch.
After a recent public request for koala mittens, the International Fund for Animal Welfare was overwhelmed by the amount of donations received. It has launched Project Pouch hoping for the same response.
A spokeswoman for the group said that caregivers can go through six pouch liners a day for each animal.
Nine of the animals are recovering at the Adelaide Zoo.
