When a police officer responded to a report of a suspicious man in a wooded area of an Arizona neighborhood Monday evening, the officer received a surprising order.

The man, later identified as Stanley Barnes, 25, was nude and demanded that the officer take his clothes off, according to the police report.

The officer refused the order. As the officer tried to talk to Barnes, the man became more aggressive and ordered the officer to get on the ground. Again, the officer refused and when Barnes refused to obey the officer’s orders and moved towards the officer in a fighting stance, the officer fired his Taser at Barnes.

The Taser had no effect on Barnes, according to police, and Barnes proceeded to assault the officer, which caused the pair to fall and roll down a hill, according to the police report.

Witnesses were able to tackle Barnes and assist the injured officer, who suffered lacerations and bruising. Arriving officers were able to restrain Barnes, who continued to exhibit violent behavior. He was taken to a hospital, as police suspected he may be under the influence of bath salts or a similar mind-altering substance.

Police later learned that Barnes may have a history of mental illness.
