The man said he did not pay attention to the safety instructions at the beginning of the flight and didn't realize the slide was only in case of emergencies.

Flight attendants claim they tried to stop the deployment but failed.

The flight ended up being delayed for two hours and the cost to repair the damaged door and slide will be over $16,000.

The incident happened only a few days after a Chinese couple, upon realizing they weren't sitting together, threw boiling water on a flight attendant and threatened to commit suicide and blow up the plane.
