Police removed a man from a city-run swimming pool in Kansas last week after they received a complaint about the man wearing a thong swimsuit, according to multiple reports.

The man, who was not identified, was issued a citation on June 9 for violating Prairie Village's city ordinance on public nudity, KSHB reported.

"(Swimmers must wear) something that covers your private areas," Capt. Byron Roberson told the news station. "Whether it be male or female, it's the same rule."

He was cited because his buttocks was exposed, according to the Shawnee Mission Post.

Witnesses told the newspaper that the man appeared to be around 40 years old. Officers escorted him from the pool, although he wasn't banned from returning with appropriate clothing.

Roberson told WDAF that the man was sunbathing on a lounge chair near the adult pool when police found him.

It wasn't the first time the man was cited by police.

"We encountered this same man last year at the city pool for the same thing," Roberson told WDAF. "We gave him a verbal warning then and asked him to leave the pool (and) he complied. This time we recognized it was the same person; therefore, we cited him and escorted him out of the public pool."
