A golfer estimated the sinkhole to be 8 to 10 feet deep, according to KMBC.

The hole has been shortened so that golfers can continue to play. The entire course remains open at this time.

The owners say that part of the course was built over a nonfunctioning limestone mine that was considered to be stable, and they are currently determining the best way to repair that part of the course.

Canyon Farms management told KMBC that sinkholes on golf courses are common.

The sinkhole is attracting the attention of local golfers, some who want the course owners to turn it into the “world’s biggest pot bunker.”
