"At first I thought a rock had flew out and hit me and struck me in the face," Bill Parker told The Sun Herald.

He thought he had a broken cheekbone in addition to a bloody nose.

Instead, a chunk of wire as thick as a nail blasted through his nostril and embedded in his sinus cavity. The wire had stopped a millimeter from his carotid artery and his jugular vein.
