Home of the ubiquitous “Florida Man” and his legendary exploits, the Sunshine State is no stranger to monkey business — and a primate named Zeek added another entry to the annals of oddity Monday morning.

Police in Sanford, a city about 30 miles north of Orlando, reported on Facebook that a resident called 911 around 8 a.m. to announce that a monkey was "eating mail out of a mailbox." When authorities arrived, the monkey, later identified as Zeek, opted to mount a patrol car and pull off its molding. He shook a road sign to within an inch of its life.

He seemingly had the boys in blue under his thumb — until they pulled out a water bottle, distracting him long enough for his owner to arrive.

Sanford police posted photo and video evidence online. There was no word on potential charges.
