Police say the driver was going approximately 45 mph down a residential street.

The driver said that he was chasing the owl when his car went airborne, then slammed through a home’s metal gate and hit a power pole.

No explanation was provided as to why the driver was chasing the owl.

His vehicle became wedged between a tree and the pole, taking down lines with it.

The electric lines only feed one house, so utility workers are going to wait until later Wednesday morning to come out and replace the pole.

Police did not arrest the driver, who they say was not under the influence.
