The list of things Benno, the Belgian Malinois has eaten is impressive. Stuffed animals, toys, money, aluminum foil, shirts, socks, rope, drywall, and a bra are just a few.

"You can baby proof a house," owner Sonny Brassfield began.  “But I don't think it's possible to Benno-proof a house. Lord knows, we've tried and failed."

Brassfield told The Baxter Bulletin he knew there was a problem when "I woke up early and my wife said Benno had thrown up." One look and Brassfield realized "there was ammo in the vomit."

Brassfield rushed Benno to Dr. Sarah Sexton, who removed the bullets during a two-hour surgery.

"There were lots of jokes being told during the surgery," Sexton chucked. "He could have gone up in smoke, could have gone out with a bang. Oh, there were lots of jokes."

Sexton was unable to retrieve one round but Benno “fired” it out a few days later. The dog will be fine and Brassfield vows,"I won't be leaving ammunition laying around anymore.”
