You never know what's floating in the water when you're swimming in the ocean or in lakes.
A woman swimming near Inverness, Scotland found a bag on the shoreline, filled with gray powder.
It turned out to be a bag of cremains and the bag had a metal tag that said "Central Michigan Crematory Battle Creek MI." It also had a five-digit identification number, The Detroit Free Press reported.
Finally, she contacted the Battle Creek Enquirer to help get in touch with the crematory.
The crematory knows who the ashes belong to, but has no idea how they got from Michigan to Scotland, but says it happens a couple of times a year.
Crematory officials said it is the funeral home that handled the services to notify the family that the cremains were found, the Battle Creek Enquirer reported.
