There will be no water gun fights on those overnight camping retreats.

The Boy Scouts of America has forbidden their members to shoot water at each other. According to a blog on the Scouting Magazine website , the new rules for 2015 for the  Boy Scouts of America are listed in the  National Shooting Sports Manual.

"Water guns and rubber band guns must only be used to shoot at targets, and eye protection must be worn."

Some items that are prohibited by the Boy Scouts include boomerangs, spear guns and ninja throwing stars. Marshmallow shooters are also banned if you must place a straw or similar object in your mouth to operate it. The Scouting blog explains:

Why the rule? A Scouter once told me this explanation I liked quite a bit: "A Scout is kind. What part of pointing a firearm [simulated or otherwise] at someone is kind?"
