The weekend forecast calls for dry weather and road construction, at least on a few of metro interstates.

Road crews plan to once again shut down several lanes of I-285 in each direction between Riverside Drive and Ga. 400 through 5 a.m. Monday.

The other major construction zones are on I-20 eastbound west of Lee Road, where the left lane will be blocked from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, and on I-285 southbound between Cascade Road and Langford Parkway, where a couple of lanes will be blocked most of the weekend.

Those projects are weather-permitting and the weather should be just about perfect.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist David Chandley said there will be plenty of sunshine on Saturday, with skies becoming partly cloudy Sunday. The next chance of rain isn’t until early next week, Chandley said.

Weekend highs will be in the upper 80s with lows in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Events downtown this weekend include Saturday’s 2 p.m. Georgia State University football game against Chattanooga at the Georgia Dome. At Philips Arena, the Dream-Phoenix women’s pro basketball game tips off at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The Georgia Bulldogs play South Carolina at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Sanford Stadium in Athens and Stone Mountain Park hosts the annual Yellow Daisy Festival through Sunday.
