A couple who has been together for 20 years decided it was time to get married, now that same-sex unions are once again legal in California, and that's what they did on Thursday.

John Banvard, a 95-year-old WWII veteran, and Vietnam vet Gerard Nadeau, 68, chose to hold the ceremony at the V.A. Home in Chula Vista, San Diego, where the two have lived together for the past three and a half years and where many of their friends live.

But apparently not everyone who lives at the V.A. Home is a friend, because some of the residents objected and tipped off the notorious Westboro Baptist Church, which led church members to call and complain to the home.

Fortunately, the protesters left the complaining at that, and when it came time for the ceremony, only well-wishers showed up.
