Rescue crews have recovered at least three bodies after flash flooding Thursday in North Carolina, according to the Taylorsville Times.

Two of the bodies reportedly were recovered from the Hiddenite Family Campground in Alexander County, the Taylorsville Times reported. Another body was recovered after a vehicle crash due to high water on Hopewell Church Road, according to the Taylorsville newspaper.

Rescuers continue to search for two adults and one child at the camp, according to the newspaper.

Earlier Thursday, five boat crews rescued at least 33 people from rising floodwaters at the Hiddenite Family Campground, according to The Charlotte Observer’s news partner WBTV.

The campground is a 30-acre site along the South Yadkin River, about 60 miles northwest of Charlotte, according to the newspaper.

The incident is one of “multiple water rescues” that were in progress about 6 a.m. Thursday, the Observer reported. Heavy rain is continuing across western North Carolina.

Crews are responding to multiple reports of flooding around Charlotte, the newspaper reported, citing Charlotte Fire Department officials.

The rain reportedly has caused mudslides, flash flooding and power outages in nearby counties.

Up to 6 inches of rain has fallen in some areas, according to WBTV.
