Miami Beach police said Diego Berrio, 39, and Edwin Giraldo Cortez, 30, were in the front seat of a Volkswagen rental car performing oral sex, the television station reported.

Berrio is a priest with the Mission of San Juan Diego in Arlington Heights, Illinois, while Giraldo Cortez is from Soacha, Colombia, and served at another Chicago-area parish for about a month, WPLG reported.

According to a police report, when officers arrived the two men were performing sex acts on each other "in full view of the public passing by on Ocean Drive and the sidewalk," WFOR reported.

“There (were) no tints on the window,” Miami Beach pPolice spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said. “We observed the two males performing the sex act, the officer had to tap on the window to get their attention.”

Both men were charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, a misdemeanor, and Berrio also was charged with indecent exposure, The Chicago Tribune reported.

According to a statement Tuesday, Berrio and Giraldo Cortes will no longer be able to be priests in the Archdiocese of Chicago, the Tribune reported.
