A 56-year-old man walking Saturday afternoon was struck and killed by a 1995 Ford Mustang traveling on Peachtree Street downtown in a hit-and run that resulted in two arrests, according to investigators.

Darathe Buckner, of Atlanta, was crossing Trinity Avenue at the intersection of Peachtree Street at 12:57 p.m. when the Mustang traveling south struck him. The two men abandoned the car and fled on foot. They were later arrested when they called 911 to report the Mustang had been stolen, police said.

Buckner died at Grady Hospital.

The two suspects, Antavious Lowe and Jungki Kim, were taken to the Fulton County jail. Lowe is charged with felony hit and run, first-degree homicide by vehicle and failure to yield to a pedestrian, according to Atlanta police. Kim is charged with giving false statements to a government agency.
