Twitter suspends Trump campaign page after post about Biden

The post reportedly concerned Hunter Biden and his overseas business dealings

President Donald Trump is gearing up ... to face Joe Biden in this fall's presidential election. Biden, a former vice president and senator, has been on the campaign trail speaking to voters at social distancing events. . Trump has also held many campaign events around the country ... including a recent event in Atlanta on Sept. 25. . This election season is taking place in the shadow of the coronavirus ... and its devastating economic impact on the nation

Twitter has, once again, found a page linked to President Donald Trump in violation of its social media policies, after the Team Trump Twitter account posted video of Hunter Biden.

The page was suspended Thursday morning due to it violating rules of “posting private information,” according to a statement. The post goes on to explain that accounts “may not publish or post other people’s private information without their express authorization and permission.”

The post on Team Trump’s page, which has more than 2.2 million followers, has been taken down, but a screengrab reveals that the post read: “Joe Biden is a liar who has been ripping off our country for years.” A link follows that reportedly shows Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s son Hunter as he is handling a business deal.

The video harkens back to a New York Post article which published emails from Hunter Biden that suggest he introduced his father to a Ukrainian executive from a natural gas firm. It also comes a day after an NYP story published that alleges the junior Biden dropped off his laptop at a Delaware computer store due to the laptop allegedly containing incriminating content. The owner reportedly handed over a copy of the computer’s hard drive to Rudy Giuliani, a Trump supporter and former New York mayor.

The president’s campaign officials have responded to Twitter’s move to lock the account with contempt.

“This is election interference, plain and simple. For Twitter to lock the main account of the campaign of the President of the United States is a breathtaking level of political meddling and nothing short of an attempt to rig the election,” Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh told Fox News.

According to the campaign, the link that was blocked on the Team Trump page is now visible on Trump’s official account.

Less than two weeks ago, the president’s post about coronavirus led to Facebook removing his post and Twitter flagging it for users. Twitter and Facebook said the post came hours after the commander in chief was released from Walter Reed hospital for his own coronavirus treatment.

The post read: “Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. Are we going to close down our Country? No, we have learned to live with it, just like we are learning to live with Covid, in most populations far less lethal.”

The president responded by saying that Section 230, which gives social media companies an exemption from laws regarding libel and defamation, should be repealed.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is reportedly in the process of preparing a subpoena to ask Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to testify with regard to blocking the sharing of the New York Post article about Hunter Biden.

“Twitter and Facebook and big tech billionaires don’t get to censor political speech and actively interfere in the election,” Cruz said.

Trump and Biden will participate in dueling town halls Thursday night, with Trump’s airing on NBC and his contender’s showing on ABC.
