The Georgia Department of Transportation is warning motorists on Ga. 400 to slow down and drive cautiously this weekend as traffic near the old toll plaza is shifted into its permanent lane configuration.

The final configuration will have three travel lanes in each direction. Those lanes will be located on the inside (left) area of the roadway, a section formerly used by vehicles with Cruise Cards, on a segment of the highway north of the Lenox Road interchange.

The shift will occur over the span of two nights, weather permitting. Northbound traffic will be shifted beginning at 10 p.m., Friday, with work extending into the early hours Saturday morning. At 10 p.m. Saturday, the southbound shift will begin.

Delays are likely while the work is ongoing. Motorists should continue to drive through the area carefully once the shift is complete, as workers will be removing unnecessary pavement to the right of the lanes, according to GDOT.
