One of the busiest roads near the Atlanta airport will be closed this weekend as crews install a new diverging diamond interchange.

The Camp Creek Parkway bridge that goes over I-285 will close from 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, the Georgia Department of Transportation said. Drivers in south Fulton County are advised to avoid the area if possible.

A detour will be set up from North Commerce Road to Redwine Road to Desert Drive, GDOT said. All exit and entrance ramps from I-285 to Camp Creek Parkway will remain accessible.

However, there will be “intermittent lane closures, lane shifts and traffic pacing” on I-285 at the interchange for crews, according to the agency. Crews will set up message boards and signs to alert drivers of the traffic impacts.

The new interchange is expected to make its debut during Monday’s morning commute.
