A traffic stop Wednesday led to a chase, crash and hours-long search for the driver in Carroll County, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

The search has been called off, but the driver was not arrested. The GSP identified him as Ronnie Allen Myers, who is believed to live in Villa Rica.

The incident began when a GSP trooper tried to pull over a Nissan Altima that Myers was driving on Ga. 61 about 5:30 p.m., according to the GSP.

The car, however, took off near Tolbert Drive and led the trooper on a chase,  the GSP reported.

It ended on Daniel Road when the Nissan drove behind a house and crashed into woods about 400 yards off the road, the GSP reported. The driver then ran from the scene and disappeared into the woods, according to the GSP.

It’s unclear if Myers was hurt in the chase or crash.

No other details were released.
