Four people were taken to metro Atlanta hospitals Thursday after a serious crash involving an overturned vehicle on I-20 East in Douglasville.

The accident shut down the east side of the interstate and caused heavy delays east of Lee Road just before 8 a.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol.

All lanes were open again by about 10:30 a.m.

The crash happened when a 2008 Infiniti G35 was traveling east while changing from the center to the left lane. The Infiniti hit the rear of a 2002 Ford Ranger also heading east in the left lane, the GSP reported.

At that point, the Ford Ranger overturned.

Justin Jeffery Baughn, 30, of Norcross, was driving the Infiniti, the GSP reported. He was taken to WellStar Cobb Hospital, the GSP said.

Gustavo Zavaleta, 20, of Douglasville, who was driving the Ford, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. His passengers — Juan Carlos Maya, 32, and Edgar Lucas, 20, both of Douglasville — were taken to Atlanta Medical Center.

Conditions of those involved are unknown at this time.
