A man is in critical condition after a pickup truck hit him as he crossed Ga. 29 in Fairburn.

The crash, reported about 6 a.m. Wednesday, shut down multiple lanes of the highway for more than two hours near the Ga. 74 loop, interim police chief Anthony Bazydlo said.

All lanes reopened about 8:30 a.m., police said.

It is unclear why the man was on Ga. 29.

He was crossing from southbound to northbound lanes at the time of the crash.

“The driver is not believed to have been under the influence and has not been charged at this time,” Bazydlo said.
