All lanes of eastbound I-20 in Carroll County near exit 19 were closed at midday Friday after an early-morning crash involving three tractor-trailers, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

One of the trucks was carrying motor oil and liquid fertilizer, which spilled onto the freeway, GSP spokeswoman Tracey Watson said.

About 2 a.m., an eastbound tractor-trailer ran off the right shoulder for an unknown reason, Watson said. The driver overcorrected and re-entered the roadway, and the truck then overturned onto its side.

Two eastbound tractor-trailers hit the trailer of the first truck, causing it to lose its load, according to the GSP.

Three injuries were reported, and one person was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, Watson said.

Drivers are urged to find alternate routes.
