A driver was partially ejected from his Jeep and killed early Tuesday after he hit a deer, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said.

Danny Barnes, 56, of Ball Ground, was driving a Jeep Wrangler on Conns Creek near Moody Road when he hit the deer, Lt. Jay Baker said.

That caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and roll down an embankment.

“Barnes died from injuries sustained in the accident after being partially ejected from the Jeep,” Baker said.

There were no passengers in the vehicle, according to sheriff’s officials who responded to the scene just after 4 a.m.
