A maintenance worker was killed Wednesday morning after a woman drove onto a Cobb County sidewalk, officials said.

The incident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. at Akers Mill Road and Galleria Drive, Cobb police spokesman Brody Staud said.

Police identified the victim as Joseph Poncer, 50, of Marietta. He was doing maintenance along the road at the time of the deadly accident, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The driver was 30-year-old Toni Hale of Jonesboro, police said.

Details about the crash have not been released.
