I-75 South reopens after truck fire in NW Atlanta

All lanes of I-75 in northwest Atlanta have reopened after a tractor-trailer caught on fire Friday morning and flames spread beyond the interstate.

The truck was extinguished quickly, but the interstate was closed between Moores Mill and Howell Mill roads for nearly two hours while Atlanta fire crews evaluated whether the fire spread into a storm drain.

🚨 Atlanta Fire is on I-75 Southbound between Moores Mill Rd and Howell Mill Road. Interstate traffic severely impacted and maybe shutdown at times due to a fully involved tractor trailer fire. Fire possibly in the storm drain below the interstate as well. #AFRD

All but two left lanes had reopened by noon, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.
