Investigators have identified a motorcyclist killed Thursday afternoon in a wreck that shut down a major Clayton County road for nearly five hours.

Kareem Ian Davis, 35, was killed just before 4 p.m. during a crash involving an SUV in the southbound lanes of Tara Boulevard, authorities said. The driver of the SUV was taken to a hospital.

Police have not said which driver was at fault or if any charges are expected.

The crash caused major delays for much of the evening as investigators blocked off the road outside a Home Depot near McDonough Road. Drivers were urged to take alternate routes or avoid the area entirely.

The southbound lanes of Tara Boulevard reopened just before 9 p.m., according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.
