Police are working to identify a man who was hit and killed Wednesday morning on a Clayton County road.

Officers were called shortly before 7 a.m. after the man became trapped underneath a vehicle on Forest Parkway near Creekview Lane. He was pronounced dead at the scene, prompting authorities to shut down the road for hours as they investigated.

They did not clear the scene until about 10:50 a.m.

Clayton County police spokeswoman Sgt. Julia Isaac said investigators are still working to determine if the man was struck and killed by the driver who reported the crash, or if he was already dead. Investigators are not sure how long he had been in the road, she said.

The driver who hit the man was not charged.

The victim was between 40 and 45 years old, about 5-foot-5 and around 120 pounds, authorities said. He was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and flip flops.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to call Clayton County’s Traffic Unit at 770-473-3932.
