All northbound lanes of I-85 have reopened in Gwinnett County after a crash involving eight vehicles blocked the interstate for nearly two hours Wednesday evening.

The wreck occurred about 6:30 p.m. near Jimmy Carter Boulevard, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center. All lanes reopened shortly after 8 p.m., though there are still heavy delays in the area.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the crash involved three pickup trucks, three SUVs and two cars. Five people were injured the wreck. They were taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, but all of them are expected to survive.

Drivers are urged to take Buford Highway or Peachtree Industrial Boulevard to avoid the remaining delays.
