Dramatic cellphone video shows a team of Canadian police officers boarding a plane just after an emergency landing Friday and yelling at passengers to put their “hands up, heads down” while they took an unruly passenger into custody.

The plane was over West Virginia, on its way from Toronto to Panama, when it turned back because of the passenger's threats, the airline said. (NationalPost.com)

Passenger Ali Shahi, 25,  became agitated after takeoff, Sunwing Airline President Mark Williams said. Williams said Shahi tore up magazines and tried to rip the window shade off, then told the crew he wanted to “blow up the airplane.”

Crew members subdued Shahi, and he was taken into custody after the emergency landing. Authorities said Shahi was not armed and no weapons were found on the plane.

Shahi faces several charges in connection with the incident.

Two F16 fighter jets based in Toledo, Ohio, escorted the plane back to Toronto as a precautionary measure, according to a spokesperson for the North American Aerospace Defence Command. The jets returned to their home base after the plane landed safely.
