Country singer and songwriter Cady Groves died Sunday at age 30, according to a tweet from her brother Cody Groves.
The pop/country singer, songwriter was known for songs like “This Little Girl,” and “Forget You,” and had been planning a summer release of new music, according to her brother. Groves, an Oklahoma native, passed away in the Nashville area apparently of “natural causes.”
“She had some medical problems last fall and our best guess at this point until further testing is complete is that they had resurfaced,” Cody Groves said in a Sunday night tweet. “Please respect her name and family before sharing information that did not come directly from me.”
In another tweet, Cody Groves wrote "Hope you're reunited with Kelly and Casey." Cady Groves' death came just a few years after she lost two older brothers both before they turned 30. Casey Groves died in October 2007 at the age of 28. Her brother Kelly Groves, 28, died in March 2014, according to several reports. According to a report by The Oklahoman, both brothers had struggled with prescription drug dependency.
Cady Groves dedicated a song to her brother Kelly called “Bring Back the Sun” in 2014.
“My ipod randomly started playing Our Lady Peace ‘bring back the sun’ and I completely lost it,” she said in a YouTube video. “It was his way of making me finally face the fact that he’s gone. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I got so mad in that moment. Why him? why me? I have quickly realized that without him in my life- it’s like the lights got turned off. So this little ROUGH vocal acoustic demo is tying all of that together... “MY take on the title ‘bring back the sun’ I love you brother.”

Cady Groves started her career in 2009, independently releasing music. She would go on to release “A Month of Sundays” and “The Life of Pirate.”
Cady recently signed with the Thirty Tigers label, according to People. She had spent the last year working on music with the team from Shane McAnally's SMACKSongs.
“[Cady] was really looking forward to the next few months and release of her new album,” Cody Groves said in a tweet. “Our latest in depth conversation (since most were witty banter) was her sending me songs to critique and give feedback on.”
Several music fans and fellow musicians mourned the loss of the singer late Sunday and Monday.
She is survived by her parents, Carol Pettit and Larry Groves; her four siblings, Cody, Kevan, Kyle and Kelsy; and three of her half-siblings, Adam, Carrie and Courtney Farmwald.
