Q: When Peyton Manning was interviewed after the Super Bowl, he said that he’s going to drink a lot of Budweiser. What’s his angle?

—John Wile, Smyrna

A: Budweiser didn't pay Manning, the quarterback of the Denver Broncos, for his two mentions after their Super Bowl victory over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

The company’s director of marketing tweeted Sunday night: “We were surprised and delighted that he did.”

Manning owns interests in two Anheuser-Busch distributorships in Louisiana, Beer Business Daily, a trade publication, has reported, according to media reports.

Manning talked about drinking Budweiser in his postgame interview with a CBS reporter and also mentioned the beer on the winners’ platform.

Then on “CBS This Morning” early Monday, Manning said: “I’ve had a few Budweisers and it’s been a special night,” as reported by The Washington Post.

Manning’s two mentions after the Super Bowl were worth $13.9 million for Budweiser, The Denver Post reported.

The NFL prohibits players from endorsing brands of alcohol.

Q: Are Georgia Lottery Quik Pik numbers generated by the machine at the store or by a central computer?

—Tim Conner, Austell

A: The store terminal picks the random numbers, which are generated at the store when the Quik Pik ticket is purchased.

Quick Pik numbers are not dependent on other stores or related to other Quick Pik requests, a Georgia Lottery spokeswoman told Q&A on the News in an email.

They also aren’t affected by a player’s position in line.

“Once a Quik Pik ticket is generated, the selection process begins again with all possible number combinations,” she wrote.
