Q: I know Tom Selleck is enjoying a successful TV series with "Blue Bloods." Are there any plans by him or CBS to revive his role of Jesse Stone? — Bob Strong, McDonough

A: Co-producer Michael Brandman told Variety in 2012 that CBS will not order future Jesse Stone movies, even though the final one, called "Benefit of the Doubt," had a respectable 13 million viewers when it aired May 20 of that year. Brandman said demographics played a role in the decision. Most of the viewers of "Benefit of the Doubt" were 50 and older, not the key demographic of 18-49. "Both of us are surprised CBS was so wedded to those (younger) demographics. … It's really hard for us to grasp," Brandman, speaking for himself and Selleck, told Variety. Network sources told the magazine that CBS is focusing on TV series, citing that the network also ended a 16-year relationship with "Hallmark Hall of Fame." Selleck has said he would like to make more Stone movies for other networks "because there are so many other markets, cable and everything." CBS aired eight movies starring Selleck as Stone, the fictional police chief of Paradise, Mass.
