Q: I’ve read articles about the Braves coming to Cobb County. I remember in 2007 the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre coming to Cobb. How is it doing?

—E.L. Blaylock, Vinings

A: The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, which opened in 2007, made a profit of $1.5 million in the 2014 fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, according to the annual report made to the Cobb-Marietta Coliseum & Exhibit Hall Authority, which operates the Cobb Galleria Centre and Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

That fell $4,000 short of the budget’s expected profit and doesn’t account for $2.7 million in depreciation.

But managers also estimate the arts center has a $24.2 million economic impact on Georgia each year and generates the equivalent of 250 fulltime jobs.

The center includes a 2,750-seat theater and a 10,000-square-foot ballroom

Comedians, musicians and traveling shows book dates at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre throughout the year.

Josh Groban, Kristin Chenoweth, Frank Caliendo and John Cleese and Eric Idle are among the performers scheduled this fall. The Atlanta Opera’s production of “La bohème” is scheduled for early October.

Q: Is Donald Trump a military veteran? Yes or no? If he’s not, he shouldn’t run for president.

—Kenneth Jones, Decatur

A: Trump never served in the U.S. military despite being a draft-eligible age during the Vietnam War in the late 1960s.

He received four student deferments while he was attending Fordham University and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, and then received a medical deferment after his 1968 graduation.
