Q: With the arrest of Conrado Juarez in the 22-year investigation into the killing of New York's Baby Hope/Anjelica Castillo, are authorities trying to link him with other unsolved killings or cases of sexual abuse/assault? — Michelle Hutchinson, Marietta

A: Juarez has not been connected with other cases, although authorities were looking into "accusations that he had abused other cousins and other family members," The New York Times reported last week. Juarez, 52, was arrested Oct. 12 and charged with killing Baby Hope, who authorities now know was named Anjelica Castillo. Juarez was her cousin. Juarez, who is married with three children, confessed to the killing after being "interrogated for 12 to 14 hours," his attorney said. He recanted in an interview with the Times later last week, saying he only helped dispose of the body. The body of Baby Hope/Castillo was found in a cooler near New York's Henry Hudson Parkway in 1991, sparking a national search for her identity and killer. There is no statute of limitations for the most serious sex crimes against children in New York.
