Q: I want to know all about George Clooney’s new bride. Where was she born, educated and what is her present job? Where did they meet, where did they get married and who was at their wedding, including which celebrities? Where will they reside after their honeymoon?

A: Amal Alamuddin, Clooney's new wife, was born in Beirut, Lebanon, and earned a degree from St Hugh's College at Oxford University and her law degree from New York University. Alamuddin, 36, is an attorney with London's Doughty Street Chambers who fluent in French, Arabic and English, and specializes in international law, human rights, extradition and criminal law, according to her staff bio.

Clooney, 53, and Alamuddin met through a mutual friend at a charity dinner in Italy in September 2013. Matt Damon; John Krasinski and his wife, Emily Blunt; Bono; Cindy Crawford; and Bill Murray were among the 100 guests who attended the wedding, which was held Sept. 27 in Venice, Italy, and cost $4.6 million, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Clooney recently bought an $8 million house near London that was a wedding gift to his wife, the Sun reported. A source for the newspaper called the new home the couple’s “British base” and where they want to “bring up a family.” Clooney also has homes in Los Angeles and on Italy’s Lake Como. Clooney and Alamuddin reportedly spent their honeymoon at their new home, instead of the Seychelles as initially reported.
