Q: A couple of years ago, there were twin girls accused of stabbing their mother to death. I know they were arrested, but I never heard about a trial or anything. What’s the status of those girls?

— Joyce G. White, Stockbridge

A: A trial date could be set for later this year or early next year for Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah Whitehead, who are accused of killing their mother, Jarmecca Whitehead, in January 2010, Rockdale County District Attorney Richard R. Read told Q&A on the News. There have been various delays in bringing the case to trial, Read said, including the retirement of Judge Sidney Nation at the end of 2012 and a change in the jury pool based on 2010 census numbers. "My preference is for later this year," Read said. Jasmiyah and Tasmiyah are charged with murder, aggravated assault and malice murder. They were 16 at the time of the killing and are being held in separate jails.

Q: When I used to work as a contractor for IBM at its Northside Drive offices, it occupied two buildings referred to as Hillside and Lakeside. Which building now houses North Atlanta High School? What will be the use for the other building?

— Len Hallke Jr., Smyrna

A: The new North Atlanta High School is in the Lakeside building, and the Hillside building was imploded last October. The Assembly Building, which will include an auditorium and two gyms, is being built on the land where Hillside sat. It's scheduled for completion in January.
