Q: Can you provide an update on the sanitation worker whose legs were injured in December?

—Donna Vann, Sandy Springs

A: Horace Walker, who lost both his legs when he was pinned between a sanitation truck and a car last month, is undergoing physical therapy at Shepherd Center.

“All things considered, he’s doing as well as to be expected,” Bryan Baer, the family’s attorney, told Q&A on the News. “He tries to stay as positive as possible.”

Walker was working for American Disposal Services on Dec. 3 when a car rammed the back of his truck.

Doctors had to amputate his legs.

“Horace is proud of the accomplishments he’s made since the accident.” Baer said. “He’s gaining strength in his upper body. He’s making a lot of progress.”

Baer said Walker’s wife Carla “has been by his side pretty much 24/7” since the accident. They have a 3-year-old daughter.

A GoFundMe account (www.gofundme.com/e9d8hj6s) was established for Walker. As of Monday afternoon, $6,630 had been contributed.

—Nan Straughn, Atlanta

A: Telemarketers can call only between 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., as stated in the Federal Trade Commission's Telemarketing Sales Rule, "unless a telemarketer has a person's prior consent to do otherwise."
