Shelly Adams had lost control of her car in Royse City, and her car became submerged into the water near a subdivision.

But Royse City officers Shane Meek and John Bivins waded into the pond, used a flashlight to break the passenger window and saved the emergency room nurse, the television station reported

"If it wasn't for them, I would not be here," Adams told WFAA.

When her car rolled into the pond, Adams tried kicking out the window with no success. Then, she called her husband as water began to fill up the vehicle.

"At first (the telephone call) didn't register," Matt Adams told the television station. "So I (asked her) again, 'What?' She told me and then the phone went dead."

Matt Adams got into his truck and rushed to the scene. By the time he got to the pond, the officers had rescued his wife.

Shelly Adams said she thought she was going to die.

"Then all of a sudden I see a face," she told WFAA. "I was like, 'Oh my gosh, I'm gonna live!'"

The officers arrived with seconds to spare.

"As soon as she jumped out to us, the car hit bottom," Bivins told the television station.

Monday evening, Shelly Adams got to meet the two officers at the Royce City police station, WFAA reported.

"You have no idea how much I appreciate you," she told the officers.

"This is what we do. We love what we do," Bivins said.
