A Texas man was arrested Tuesday and charged with unlawful restraint after he allegedly locked up his wife and her infant child because he wanted to save his marriage, the Laredo Morning Times reported.

Alejandro Quintana, 33, was arrested by Laredo police. Authorities met with a woman who had a child in her arms, the Morning Times reported. She said she told Quintana that she was going to leave him, Laredo police said. According to the woman, her husband locked her and the infant in a room, the newspaper reported.

The man told police he detained his wife and her child because he wanted to save their marriage, the Morning Times reported.
