A Cobb County teenager was arrested for allegedly bringing a 6.5-inch throwing knife to school.
Salvador Alejandro Salgado, 17, of Marietta, was arrested Thursday when an Osborne High School teacher saw the knife on a desk, according to an arrest warrant obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“At the time of discovery by the teacher, said accused was in the bathroom,” the warrant states.
Salgado allegedly admitted to the teacher that the knife, which had a 3.5-inch blade, belonged to him, according to police.
Salgado was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon within a school safety zone, a felony. He was booked into the Cobb County jail and released several hours later after posting $8,000 bond, booking records show.
According to the Cobb County school system’s code of conduct, Salgado faces a minimum of two days of out-of-school suspension and could receive a harsher punishment.
